Heroes in the Hallway

And rarely do we know about this golden thread of humanity that runs through so many that are part of the EllisDon family. In an effort to shine a light on those that have given so much of themselves, here is what our colleagues have been up to this holiday season...

 

The Ottawa area office and job sites raised over $6,000 in food and cash for the local Food Bank. And with the Area Management matching the employee's donations dollar for dollar the Food Bank will be replenished after the New Year to continue helping those less fortunate in the Ottawa area. 

Over $1,000 was raised for the Ontario Association of Food Banks to buy holiday turkeys. 

 

In Mississauga a humble red bucket was filled with donations for a family of six children (ages 1, 3, 5, 6, 15 and 16) from the Peel Children's Centre Wraparound program. Over $4,000 was raised in two weeks with additional funds being donated to the Daily Food Bank and the Children's Aid Society of Peel.

 

For over 30 years, the London area has been raising money for the local Children's Aid Society and this year was no different. The job sites and office staff reached deep into their pockets to donate over $4000 with EllisDon matching the employees donations resulting in more than $8000 being given away this holiday season.

 

The Winnipeg Area employees raised $2,500 which will provide food hampers for ten Sudanese Refugee families spending their first year in Canada.  These funds will also buy Christmas Dinner turkeys for 300 Sudanese refugees and homeless in the downtown Winnipeg area.  

 

These three Calgary area project teams sponsored a needy child for the holiday season. 

 

This year the Edmonton area office received holiday gift cards from Area Management. However instead of taking the cards, many pooled their gifts together and donated them to a local food bank. 

 

Let us not forget that throughout the year many at EllisDon give generously through private donations and charitable acts allowing those in our community to stand taller and shine brighter.
