Understanding the Atlantic community

You don’t spend your whole life in an area and not pick up on what makes it tick.

Because of our knowledge of and experience in the Atlantic Canada region, we have a deep appreciation of what makes this community unique and we understand what the clients need.

“The majority of our Atlantic Canada team are Maritimers who have grown up here so we know how hard it is to acquire Maritime dollars. That’s why we focus on keeping a project’s costs under control. We spend our clients’ money as if it were our own.” says Brian Strecko the Atlantic Vice President.  “It’s a big deal to us because it’s the right thing to do.”

But this way of thinking is not just evident in the way we approach budgets. While everyone else jumps to the execution we take time on the logistics and planning before the project moves from paper to bricks and mortar. This sets the project on the right path from the very beginning and helps us be more proactive rather than reactive throughout the life of it.

“Because we’ve done our planning, we never have to go back to clients with excuses on why we are not performing on their project. We’ve done our planning and logistics and we know what it’s going to take to service and deliver their project successfully.”

We’ve learned that it’s important to always be looking months ahead, not just weeks. By looking ahead we can manage risk more effectively and can pin down problems before they become chronic and costly.

It comes down to the old saying, “measure twice, cut once.”

But if you ask our clients what they like about EllisDon it would probably be the way we approach their projects. We enjoy working at a round table with others, where we can offer support and where our input and the input of others are equally valued. We roll up our sleeves and come to this table with no preconceived notions. Then we focus on finding real solutions instead of just talking about the problems.

It’s this way of thinking that has gained the support of our clients, consultants and trades.

In the Atlantic Provinces, no one comes to the table with as much leadership and open communication as EllisDon.

It’s a refreshing way to work for the client, for the subs and for us!
