Briskly gaining ground on the global scene

EllisDon’s success in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) is something that few other North American construction companies have been able to achieve.

In a market with cultural barriers and a transient workforce, we have been able to set up a permanent home with two regional offices, employing over 250 people, and we have secured Project Management work on projects that total over $2 billion dollars worth of work. All in under three years.

In fact, our success in the U.A.E. is creating a stir and generating interest further throughout the East including China and India. Because of our reputation and the results we’ve achieved, new opportunities keep knocking on our door, all of which we’re excited to explore.

But EllisDon’s international success did not start with the U.A.E.  Far from it. EllisDon has been established as a world player for quite some time, with bold moves outside of North America dating as far back as 1977, when we built an Airflight Simulator Building in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and continuing on from there:

  • In 1988, EllisDon, in joint venture with construction firm Sir Robert McAlpine, worked on the landmark Canary Wharf tower in London, England.
  • In 1993, EllisDon built the Alaska Native Medical Centre, a full service general hospital serving the Alaskan Native community, in Anchorage Alaska.
  • In 1992, EllisDon was the first Canadian company to build in Latvia and Lithuania after the fall of the Iron Curtain with Farm Buildings in both countries.
  • In 1996, EllisDon, working as Project/Construction Management Consultant to Perangsang, successfully completed and handed over Phase I of the TNB IKATAN Project in Malaysia.
  • EllisDon was involved with work for the 2004 Olympics held in Athens, Greece, with the Basketball, Handball and Swordplay Venue, built in joint venture with Michaniki A.E.
  • In the Caribbean, we’ve made our mark through extensive hospitality projects, including work on the El Conquistador Resort and Country Club in Puerto Rico in 1998; the Radisson Caribbean Resort and Spa in Aruba in 1999; and a number of projects at the Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort in St. Lucia.
  • We’ve also established ourselves as a player in the United States market, with such notable projects as the Miami Federal Courthouse in Florida; the National Guard Readiness Centre in Charleston, South Carolina; and restoration work on the Plum Orchard Mansion on Cumberland Island, Georgia.

What is the point of boasting about all these international accomplishments? The point is that, given the right opportunity, EllisDon will go anywhere.

We’ve proven that we can keep a project on time and on budget no matter where it’s located. Because when it comes to bridging cultural and geographical distances, open and honest communication is essential. Solid core values and integrity make all the difference.

From the Caribbean to the Mediterranean, EllisDon keeps delivering the results.
