New Record Raised at 2016 Ken and Nancy Shaw Providence Golf Classic

The EllisDon-sponsored 2016 Ken Nancy Shaw Providence Golf Classic proved to be a huge success this year, raising a record-breaking $220,000 to support Providence Healthcare's transformation of its palliative care program. “When we hosted our inaugural tournament in 1993, our goal was to raise $500,000 over five years to help build Providence’s long-term care home, the Cardinal Ambrozic Houses of Providence,” says Jennifer Stewart, President and CEO of Providence Healthcare Foundation. “Twenty-two years later and the tournament has raised more than $3.5 million to benefit thousands of patients, residents and clients. It’s fitting that this year’s event is supporting a service as important as palliative care for patients at the end of their lives.”

The palliative program is slated to open this fall, and will feature new spaces and design attributes to make patients and families as comfortable as possible. This includes serene patient rooms, overnight suites for families, laundry, a children’s play area and a business centre.
