Put your knowledge to the test
Did you know....
- The Engineering/R&D/QA Group has over 260 years worth of construction industry experience combined.
- The Engineering/R&D/QA Group is truly “global” in that the country of origins (past and present) are represented by over 10 different countries.
- The current version of EllisDon QA manual, examples of QC Plans (curtain wall, concrete formwork, waterproofing, etc) as well as templates for inspection checklists can be found on the Portal in the Knowledge Database under QA/QC Sections.
- 21 Alberta projects (covering $2.4B in work) use the ED QA program. (as of Sept. 08)
- 33 Ontario/Manitoba/British Columbia projects (covering $2.9B in work) use the ED QA program. (as of Sept. 08)
- There are over 200 subcontractors in Toronto, London, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Fort McMurray and Vancouver participating in the ED QA Program.
- “A patch never looks as good as the real thing done right.”
- Something is not right with flatness when a series of bird baths appear in the middle of your elevated concrete slabs during periods of wet weather.
- The ‘F’ number system (for flatness and levelness) provides a means of relating slab finishing and construction techniques to a specific slab finish.
- Before the placement of concrete, the formwork/falsework must be inspected by a Professional Engineer or by a competent worker designated in writing by the Professional Engineer.
- For cold weather concreting, if properly planned and coordinated, the “cold” can be conquered.
- Using a stiff broom to clean concrete splatter from rebar works like a charm!
