If you don’t care how innovative your construction company is – you should

Innovation means taking big leaps forward. It means stepping up and pushing beyond what comes easy.

Being innovative is what drove us, in 1956, to be the first company in Canada to own and operate our own tower cranes so that we could literally reach higher.

Being innovative is what gave us the guts, in 1986, to tackle the construction of the first retractable stadium roof in the world. We bet our company on the performance of this ground breaking project and we delivered.

Innovation is why, in 1990, we became the first construction company in Canada to invest in an in-house Engineering, Research and Development and Quality Assurance Department. Today, our teams are the “go to” experts not only for EllisDon employees and our clients, but even for industry leaders and authorities, such as the American Concrete Institute. Try to find another company with the resources, track record and history of our department.

Innovation, and the need for constant improvement, is what inspired us, in 2000, to push ourselves to improve as a company by developing the ground breaking Client First Program that was the first of its kind.

And being innovative is still driving us to make great leaps ahead. Today, we’re completely changing the way hospitals are being built.

No longer playing the simple role of contractor, we now provide the lead in arranging the financing of many of the hospitals that we build. But that’s not all, in addition to these Equity Services, we also integrate the entire information and communication technology (ICT) needs of a hospital into the construction program. We make sure that the best technology solutions are secured and that they’re inline with the construction program, whether it’s patient bedside multimedia terminals or cable systems and ports.

From refining the traditional construction procurement model  to enable hospital construction a way to move forward, to providing ICT services to ensure seamless integration between the worlds of technology and construction, the $450M William Osler Health Centre in Brampton, Ontario is a testament to the sorts of successes that our innovations can bring forward.

We’re changing the world of construction by integrating a range of new services into the construction program. These services ensure a better building gets built and that it functions as it should.

The way we see it, the future of EllisDon rests on our ability to innovate and push beyond what comes easy. We can’t predict where this innovation will take us next but we aren’t hiding from the challenges. Whether we hit the stars or crash and burn with our bold direction, it promises, at least, to be a fun ride. Care to join us?
