EllisDon Announces Building Vital Communities Employee Giving Plan
Company develops new program to support generosity of EllisDon's employees. We at EllisDon are a big-hearted bunch. When tragedies such as the earthquake in Haiti or, more recently, the floods in Pakistan happened, the EllisDon community wasted no time in coming together and answering the call for help. And all dollars raised were matched by the company.
Corporately, EllisDon supports several charities across the company, but everyday, individual employees contribute financially and volunteer hundreds of hours to countless organizations in our respective communities.
Inspired by the constant generosity of the people who work here, and wanting to honour the kindness of those who give so much, whether in dollars or in hours, EllisDon has developed Building Vital Communities, a program that builds on our history of community service and giving. We believe by investing in programs designed to serve local community needs our contributions will help build strong and healthy communities.
EllisDon's Building Vital Communities program contains three major components:
- A matching grants component: EllisDon will match donations made by an employee to a charity for up to $1000 in each fiscal year;
- A volunteer recognition grants component: Where an employee has volunteered with a charity for at least 25 hours in a fiscal year, EllisDon will make a donation of $1000 to that charity in that fiscal year;
- A means of sharing volunteer opportunities across the company.
Whether we participate through individual acts of kindness or by working with others through community-wide efforts, we take care of those who are vulnerable or less fortunate. This sense of duty and responsibility that seems to be such a part of so many of our employees is amazing. So as far as we're concerned, EllisDon's Building Vital Communities program is simply us addressing our responsibility to our own employees.
