Chief Estimator

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

1. Manage and administer department functions including operating budgets, staffing, wage reviews, work assignments, performance evaluations, etc.

2. Effectively determine the bid strategies required for the company to be successful as well as plan and coordinate and supervise large projects.

3. Assist corporate and project management teams to determine what types of projects to bid, strategies, techniques, etc.

4. Review all final estimate packages to insure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation.

5. Participate in presentations to corporate management and clients.  May be responsible for “closing the sale".

6. Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc. as required.

7. May assist in the preparation of studies, materials and methods, recommendations, and cost estimates as required.

8. Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

 

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

1. Educational and experience requirements include:  Engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.

2. Advanced management or technical training preferred.

3. Extensive (10 or more years) experience in similar facility construction estimating and related functions plus thorough knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts required.

4. Excellent organizational, supervisory and decision making/problem solving skills essential.
