Ryerson University’s award winning Student Learning Centre (SLC) has achieved LEED Gold status after surpassing the original goal of LEED Silver compliancy. The building encapsulates a number of features that have contributed to LEED Gold status including three green roofs, water conserving plumbing fixtures, roof and ground water collection systems to harvest storm water, and a transparent, temperature-moderating glass exterior. “The SLC is a very unique project, given its design and its location. These two elements were a real challenge that we embraced and strived to build a building that we could be as proud to build as our client is proud to own. We were working to achieving LEED Silver Status and having received LEED Gold status, just validates everyone's hard work and how we took ownership and went over and above our mandate,” said Angelo Cofini, P.Eng, Construction Manager. The SLC is the face of Ryerson University with an engaging, large glass facade and progressive presence, livening up the core downtown area on Yonge Street.
