EllisDon Requalifies for Platinum Membership on Deloitte National Program for 9th Consecutive Year

EllisDon named on Deloitte’s 50 Best Managed Companies list

Mississauga, March 9, 2017— Today, Deloitte Canada released the winners of the 50 Best Managed Companies for 2017, with EllisDon making another appearance on the national program. The 50 Best Managed Companies program recognizes leading organizations for making the Best Managed list for seven consecutive years or more. This year, EllisDon requalified for platinum designation for the 9th consecutive year.Aside from numerous marketing and public relations benefits, this designation offers winners a spotlight in a Canada’s Best Managed Companies special report in Maclean’s magazine and Canadian Business (online), released today. These special editions will also identify EllisDon as a Platinum Club member.Geoff Smith, EllisDon’s President and CEO, credits his employees for these consecutive wins. “What we’ve come to realize from a moral point of view — as well as from a very pragmatic business point of view— is if you put employees first, clients get great experiences and shareholders get great returns,” said Smith. “You don’t even need to think about it. It just happens.”Sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC, National Post, Queen’s School of Business and MacKay CEO Forums, and attracting hundreds of applicants with over $15 million in revenue yearly, the Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies program recognizes organizations that set the highest standards of business performance. Awards are distributed on three levels: Best Managed Companies winner (one of 50 new winners selected yearly); Requalified member (repeat winners that retain the title two additional years); Gold Standard member (repeat winners that retain the title for over three years); and Platinum Club member (repeat winners that retain the title for seven years or more)."While many companies look only to revenue growth as a key marker of success, Best Managed companies take strategic risks to grow in a number of different ways," said Lorrie King, National Co-Leader of Canada's Best Managed Companies program and Partner at Deloitte. "It's this adaptability and approach to business that sets them apart from the status quo."Now in its 24th year, the Best Managed designation has become a symbol of Canadian corporate success, and a credit to those companies that hold true to their core vision, create stakeholder value, and excel in the global economy. This year’s top 50 companies will be celebrated at the Canada’s Best Managed Companies symposium and gala, to be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on the evening of April 19, 2017.
