Canada Life Place Is One Step Closer with Topping Off Ceremony

London, Ontario is one step closer to the completion of renovations at Canada Life Place!

This key milestone is only one in the ongoing revitalization of one of London’s most iconic venues. Twenty-three years after EllisDon first delivered the arena in 2002, the team has returned to lead its transformation – bringing new life to a space that has long served as a cornerstone of the city’s sports and entertainment scene.

This moment in time reflects the hard work from our teams to work towards delivering on a project with coordinated delivery and a shared commitment to creating a venue that is prepared to deliver – with style. With ever evolving needs for the London Knights, future concerts, and countless games, we are one step closer to supporting the London community.

“This milestone is a testament to the strength of the partnerships behind this project,” said Randy Reymer, Senior Vice President & Area Manager, Southwestern Ontario. “To return to a venue we built more than two decades ago and help shape its next chapter is incredibly meaningful. Being a part of this legacy is one our entire team does not take lightly. We know that this venue will continue to support those who live in London and those who visit for an amazing night out – either at a hockey game or for a concert. This partnership was one full of heart and we couldn’t be prouder to work with our partners at Canada Life and the City of London to get to this milestone.”

Delivering major upgrades within an active, high-profile facility requires careful planning, flexibility, and close collaboration. The project team has worked across disciplines to manage complex logistics, always maintaina high level of safety, and minimize disruption – all while advancing a vision that balances technical performance with community impact.

“This is an exciting turning point in the transformation of Canada Life Place,” said Mike Stewart, Construction Manager, EllisDon. “Delivering complex upgrades in a live venue has required precision, speed, and seamless coordination. With the structure now topped off, we’re entering a phase where the vision truly begins to take shape – and the energy on site reflects that.”

Designed for What’s Next

The upgrades underway will position Canada Life Place to host larger events, attract new talent, and deliver an enhanced experience for fans and visitors. These improvements are expected to support the continued revitalization of London’s downtown core, while reinforcing the venue’s role as a cultural and economic anchor.

Looking Ahead

With the structure now topped off, the project moves into its next phase of construction. Momentum remains strong, and the team continues to advance toward future milestones with focus and determination.
