Marching Together: Inclusion in Action at EllisDon

At EllisDon, we build more than infrastructure—we build belonging. This summer, our teams proudly marched in Pride parades across Canada, from Toronto to Kamloops, celebrating LGBTQ2S+ visibility in an industry where representation has the opportunity to grow. But our employees, families, and friends showed up to affirm that inclusion is not optional—it’s foundational.

Pride is a celebration and a commitment. Through the employee-led group PEACE (Proud Employees for Allyship, Community, and Education), EllisDon continues to foster inclusive spaces and drive meaningful change. Our efforts extend beyond the parade route: from flying Pride flags at worksites to hosting education campaigns, sharing our Workplace Gender Affirmation and Transition Guide, and seeking out impactful partnerships that support equity and inclusion, we’re working to make belonging tangible.

“Seeing EllisDon show up so visibly and proudly at Pride events across the country is more than symbolic. It’s a reflection of our values in action,” said Rory D. Smith, Co-Chair of PEACE. “It sends a powerful message to our LGBTQ2S+ colleagues, and to the industry, that inclusion is a priority.”

Participating in Pride is a visible act of allyship. It’s how we honour the lived experiences of our people, challenge industry norms, and foster a culture where respect and empowerment are non-negotiable. It’s also how we connect—with each other, with our communities, and with the future we’re building together.

“Pride is a moment to celebrate how far we’ve come, but also to recommit to the work ahead,” said Stephanie Morand, Co-Chair of PEACE. “I’m proud to be part of a company that doesn’t just talk about allyship—it lives it.”

From job sites to offices, our commitment to inclusion is woven into every aspect of what we do. Pride is not only a celebration—it’s a testament to our ongoing progress and unity at EllisDon.
