The Story

The Keeyask Hydroelectric Generating Station is a major renewable energy project located on the lower Nelson River in Northern Manitoba, delivering approximately 695 MW of capacity – enough to power around 400,000 homes. As the largest capital investment in the province’s history and Manitoba Hydro’s most significant hydroelectric development in three decades, the project includes a powerhouse with seven generating units, a spillway structure, rockfill dams, cofferdams, and extensive earthfill dykes. Its remote location required the construction of a 2,000-person camp and careful coordination of logistics and materials to support the complex build.
