The Story
Where innovation and justice converge, the Waterloo Region Consolidated Courthouse sets a new standard for legal spaces in downtown Kitchener. This state-of-the-art, seven-storey facility brings together the Superior Court of Justice and Ontario Court of Justice, previously spread across three locations, under one roof. Spanning 430,000 square feet, it features 38 judicial rooms, including 30 courtrooms, eight conference settlement rooms, and a high-security, multiple-accused courtroom for high-profile trials. With advanced systems for remote testimony, 40 detention cells, 100% backup power, and integrated electronic security, the courthouse blends functionality with modern innovation. Its contemporary design enhances the downtown core, complete with a civic plaza and a fully barrier-free layout, ensuring accessibility for all.
