The Story

EllisDon constructed this six-storey facility; the first in the world to combine laboratories for human and animal disease research as well as containing Canada's first Level 4 laboratory which provided researchers the capability to work safely with the most serious human and animal diseases.

It has three levels of biosafety containment laboratory space: 55,600 square feet of CL2 containment; 17,100 square feet of CL3 and 10,200 square feet of CL4. It also includes 40,000 square feet of vivarium space, a 140-person lecture theatre, translation booth, cafeteria, library, and administration and technical support spaces.
