Go Rail Expansion – Rutherford Station

The Story

Reimaging the future of regional transit, the Rutherford Station Project transforms a commuter hub into a modern, versatile gateway as part of the GO Rail Expansion Program. Key upgrades included a six-storey parking structure with EV charging stations, a new second track with provisions for a third, rehabilitated and expanded platforms, a new pedestrian bridge and tunnels, and a rail/road grade separation on Rutherford Road to improve safety and mobility for all users

The rail bridge features a two-span steel superstructure, six-lane urban road underpass, permanent retaining walls, and a custom pedestrian bridge. A new stormwater system with a pumping station enhances drainage, while future-ready elements such as solar panels, smart sensor lighting, and locally sourced materials support long-term sustainability.
