The Story

Supporting critical nuclear operations, Phase I of the Heavy Water Management Building project delivers a robust below-grade concrete structure housing 25 heavy water storage tanks and process systems. The scope included bedrock excavation and installation of a caisson wall with soil tie-backs, rock anchors, and a seismic-reinforced concrete dyke for maximum stability. Above grade, a structural steel and precast facility was constructed to accommodate drum handling systems, plant support offices, and staff amenities. Located within a high-security zone, this facility meets stringent quality standards and plays a vital role in the Darlington Refurbishment program and Tritium Removal Facility.
