Empowering the Next Generation: EllisDon Partners with Honour the Work

At EllisDon, we believe building goes beyond physical structures—it’s about investing in people and possibilities.

As one of Canada’s most innovative construction services and technology companies, we’re proud to be a sponsor of Honour the Work, a two-year initiative that introduces elementary students to the exciting opportunities within Canada’s construction industry. By helping young learners envision themselves in the future of the built environment, we’re not just shaping skylines—we’re shaping futures.

“While we’ve long supported co-op programs, internships, apprenticeships, and initiatives like Jill of All Trades that engage high school girls, we recognize that reaching students even earlier can have a transformative impact,” said Symone Parera, Senior Project Manager, EllisDon and Board Member, Honour the Work. “Our sponsorship with Honour the Work is a bold, all-in effort to introduce young minds and their families to the world of construction and skilled trades early on. By starting young, we can inspire, educate, and open doors to a future full of possibilities in this dynamic industry.”

Honour the Work is a registered non-profit and charity dedicated to spotlighting the people, programs, and resources that inspire and support the next generation in exploring careers in the skilled trades across Canada. They encourage parents, educators and industries to open their minds to different ways of working

“Some students struggle in traditional classroom settings—not because they lack ability, but because the structure doesn’t align with their learning style,” said Isabel Celis Senior Design Manager, EllisDon and Advisor to the Board, Honour the Work. “Kids are naturally curious. They learn by doing, exploring, and connecting ideas to the world around them. Honour the Work aims to give teachers the tools to show how classroom concepts apply in real life, so students become more engaged, retain more, and start to see a future in places they hadn’t considered.”

EllisDon is excited to continue building on its partnership with Honour the Work, deepening our shared commitment to creating clear, accessible pathways to construction careers. Together, we’re working to ensure that young Canadians can see a future for themselves in construction—one that’s inclusive, dynamic, and full of possibility.
