At EllisDon, mental health is not a separate initiative, it’s embedded into how we work, lead, and look out for one another every day.
From formal training and education to toolbox talks and safety programs across our projects, mental health awareness is woven into our approach to safety and leadership. It reflects a shared understanding that caring for people’s well‑being is fundamental to building strong teams and safe, successful projects.
Creating a mentally healthy workplace is a collective effort. Supported by leadership and equipped with meaningful resources, our people help make support visible and accessible; on job sites, in offices, and across the organization. It’s about turning our values into everyday action.
One example of this commitment comes from Ryan Sutton, General Superintendent on one of our largest Canadian projects. Ryan shares how prioritizing mental health often starts with something simple: checking in.
Ryan speaks about paying attention to what people say, and just as importantly, the moments when there’s hesitation or no clear response. Those moments can be an opportunity to ask a few more questions, listen more closely, and show genuine care.
These everyday actions matter. They help normalize conversations about well‑being and reinforce the idea that mental health is part of how we keep each other safe.
Supporting mental health is an everyday priority at EllisDon. It’s reflected in how we show up for one another, and when we choose to speak up, listen, and act.
