Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) has announced that the New Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital has achieved LEED® Gold status. The hospital
features a number of design elements and green construction practices that surpassed the initial target of LEED Silver. "EllisDon is a proud team member
that helped achieve LEED Gold for the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital that exceeded the client's request for a LEED Silver designation,” said Denise
Flemming, Assistant Project Manager. “The building's design, construction and operation were carefully considered to minimize the environmental impact,
including increased energy efficiency, improved indoor air quality and a comprehensive green cleaning program.” LEED features include efficient plumbing
fixtures that significantly reduce water use; large windows to enhance daytime lighting; low emitting adhesives, paint, and sealants; and bicycle parking
facilities to promote alternative means of transportation. New Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital opened its doors in December 2015 and has since gained
national recognition for its innovative design and technology applications.
