March 2-8 is Women in Construction Week, a time to recognize the women shaping the future of our industry and the environments where they can succeed.

Across EllisDon, women are leading complex projects, solving difficult problems, and setting the standard for how construction gets done. Their impact is visible in our work, felt across our teams, and embedded in the culture we continue to build that is grounded in pride, respect, and opportunity.

“Being a woman in construction means having the opportunity to make a real, lasting impact; not just on projects, but on the people and communities they serve,” said Kelly Slater, Senior Project Manager, EllisDon. “It’s about bringing different perspectives to the table and knowing those perspectives are valued.”

Diversity at EllisDon is foundational. It is not an initiative or a moment in time, but a core value reflected in how we hire, how we lead, and how we invest in our people. When individuals are supported to bring their full selves to work, the result is stronger collaboration, better outcomes, and a more resilient organization.

Women across EllisDon play essential roles across engineering, construction, project management, and the trades. They lead with expertise, mentor the next generation, challenge convention, and help redefine what leadership in construction looks like. Their influence extends beyond individual projects, shaping how our industry evolves.

“Construction is a complex and fast-paced industry, and there’s space for many leadership styles,” said Mehak Mehak, Senior Project Coordinator, EllisDon. “For me, being a woman in this industry means showing that strength can look different. It means leading with intention and bringing my perspective to the work; knowing it adds value.”

This commitment is reinforced through EllisDon’s employee‑led groups like Together, that foster inclusion, belonging, and open dialogue across the organization. These efforts help create space for diverse perspectives, support professional growth, and strengthen the sense of community that enables people to thrive; on our job sites and beyond.

“I’ve seen how representation matters,” said Grace Smith, Project Coordinator, EllisDon. “When women see themselves reflected in leadership and on job sites, it reinforces that they belong here, and that their voices can help move the industry forward.”

To mark Women in Construction Week, EllisDon teams across Canada shared powerful images that speak for themselves. The photos throughout this article reflect confidence, pride, resilience, and community. They capture not just a moment, but a shared belief that progress matters.

There is still work to do. And EllisDon remains committed to doing it—building workplaces where women are heard, supported, and empowered to thrive, today and into the future.
