Bulk Vaccine Manufacturing Facility

The Story

EllisDon provided Construction Management Services for this 170,000 sq. ft. three-storey facility that produces Pertussis, Diphtheria and Tetanus bulk intermediate products destined for Canadian, US, European and other international markets. The processing areas include wash, sterilize, media and buffer preparation, and two vaccine upstream-downstream process trains to be used in simultaneous processing of different vaccine products. 

The construction included all process, utility and technical support areas and systems, multiple levels of gown/de-gown and change rooms, operations offices and general building spaces. Equipment logistics, rigging and installation was provided for all process systems, critical and support utilities, building infrastructure & waste treatment systems. 

The site development included extensions of campus steam, electrical power, communication, water, and drainage services.

The facility features 12,700 square feet of BSL2 space, 25,000 square feet of Grade D and 30,700 square feet of Grade C cleanroom space, and 890 square feet of Grade A space in isolators installed by EllisDon.
