Prince George's County - Public Schools Bundle

The Story

EllisDon is proud to co-develop the groundbreaking Prince George’s County Public Schools Bundle – a major public-private partnership in the United States. This transformative initiative will replace 11 outdated schools with eight new, state-of-the-art facilities, designed to serve over 130,000 students and 22,000 staff across the county.

Schools will be delivered in three staggered bundles, with openings scheduled between 2026 and 2028. Each facility is designed with sustainability at its core, featuring geothermal heating and cooling systems, high-performance building envelopes, rainwater management systems, and electric vehicle charging stations. Most schools are Net Zero Ready, allowing for future installation of photovoltaic panels.

The following schools are included in the bundle: Margaret Brent Elementary, Hyattsville Elementary, James Duckworth Regional, Springhill Lake Elementary, Brandywine K-8, Robert Frost K-8, Templeton Elementary, and Fairwood Elementary.

Development and Equity

EllisDon Capital Inc. is co-developing the project and also serves as a key equity investor. A cornerstone of the initiative is its commitment to inclusive development: 30% of subcontracting opportunities are reserved for minority-owned businesses, with specific allocations for African-American-owned, women-owned, and county-based enterprises.

The project also introduces a first-of-its-kind Community Equity Investment Program, allowing residents to invest directly in the schools through a crowdfunding platform managed by InfraShares.This innovative model empowers the community to take part in shaping its educational future.

The project is supported by a collaborative financing model involving public and private partners. EllisDon Capital and its co-equity sponsors have worked closely with financial institutions to ensure long-term stability and performance, while enabling broad community participation.

Facilities Services

EllisDon Facilities Services Inc. (EDFS) will manage operations across all eight schools for a 30-year term. Services include general management, plant services, help desk support, security systems, building automation, landscaping, pest control, and preventative and life cycle maintenance – ensuring safe, efficient, and well-maintained learning environments for generations to come.
