The Story
A groundbreaking feat of engineering and a Toronto icon, Rogers Centre—home to the world’s first retractable roof stadium—opened on June 3, 1989, redefining the standard for multi-use sports and entertainment venues. With 52,000 seats, it serves as home to the Toronto Blue Jays and remains a defining feature of the city’s skyline, drawing millions of spectators annually.
EllisDon delivered the stadium through a Design-Build contract, completing the project in just 32 months. During construction, the scope expanded to include a hotel, health club, restaurants, Skyboxes, and a Jumbotron, all while maintaining the original timeline.
