Final Structural Beam Placed at The Future Home of The Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre

The final structural beam has been placed at The Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre, marking the completion of the steel framework.

Over the past 18 months, the project team has utilized approximately 25,000 cubic metres of concrete, 3,600 tonnes of rebar, and more than 20 tonnes of structural steel. These materials form the backbone of the facility designed to advance healthcare delivery, support innovation, and promote the well-being of the communities it will serve.

In the coming months, our team will continue with the completion of the interior of the building, including all patient rooms, mechanical spaces, and electrical services. Once complete, The Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre will include:

• Bright therapy spaces on every floor, including purpose-built areas for group rehabilitation
• Accessible design elements, natural light, and outdoor therapy areas that promote mobility, independence, and a supportive environment for patients and families
• Advanced digital technology to support coordinated, patient-centred care and more timely clinical decision making
• 100% private rooms, with more than 350 rooms designed with input from patients and care teams to meet the needs of our community

We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Trillium Health Partners and Infrastructure Ontario as we move toward a 2029 opening that will expand access to high-quality rehabilitation and complex continuing care for the community.
