At the 2025 Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) Awards, EllisDon was honoured for work that reflects purpose, care, and community impact. Garreth Maybury, Director of Operations, British Columbia, received the Outstanding Achievement Award for Educational Leadership, celebrating his lasting impact on the construction industry through mentorship, education, and community engagement.

In addition, EllisDon earned Silver Awards for Project Excellence for two standout builds: the Vancouver City Centre Urgent Primary Care Centre and the Decathlon Fit-Out at Metropolis at Metrotown. These awards celebrate projects that go beyond execution, demonstrating innovation, thoughtful design, and a clear commitment to building better communities.

Garreth Maybury: Leading with Purpose

Garreth’s leadership is defined by care and action. He founded The Healthier Professional to offer free coaching and mental health support to construction workers, helping them thrive in a demanding industry. At EllisDon, he mentors early-career staff through monthly training sessions, building confidence and opening doors. Beyond the workplace, he coaches youth sports, works closely with the BC Lions on their ‘Skills 4 Life’program and Embers ‘Return to Work’ program all involving Indigenous youth, homeless and underrepresented groups and volunteers at the Greater Vancouver Food Bank—showing up for his community with the same commitment he brings to the job site.

“This recognition from the VRCA is an honour and a reflection of the culture we’ve built at EllisDon,” said Maybury. “We don’t just talk about values like care and integrity—we live them. For me, that means showing up, pitching in, and making sure the work we do leaves a lasting impact beyond the job site.”

Maybury’s story reflects the values EllisDon has lived by for decades. The careers he’s helped launch, the lives he’s touched, and the culture of care he fosters are part of a legacy that reaches far beyond the job site.

Built with Care, Recognized for Impact

EllisDon’s Silver Awards this year reflect two projects that responded to real needs with precision, care, and impact:

  • Vancouver City Centre Urgent Primary Care Centre: Delivered modern medical infrastructure in downtown Vancouver, meeting urgent public health needs in a dense urban setting. The team overcame tight timelines and logistical constraints to create a space that is both functional and welcoming—an example of technical execution with meaningful impact.
  • Decathlon Fit-Out – Metropolis at Metrotown: Transformed a high-traffic retail space into Decathlon’s flagship Vancouver store, featuring custom installations, sustainability-focused design, and a mural by a local artist. The result is a space that invites movement, exploration, and connection, reflecting EllisDon’s attention to detail and our ability to deliver with precision, clarity, and care.

“These awards are a proud moment for EllisDon,” said Craig Enns, Senior Vice President and Area Manager, British Columbia. “They recognize projects that combine technical excellence with meaningful impact, and that’s exactly what our teams delivered. This is recognition of what we do best: building exceptional spaces that serve communities and stand the test of time.”

Recognition Rooted in Impact

The VRCA Awards are a celebration of excellence, but for EllisDon, they’re also a reminder of why we build. Whether it’s a care centre, a retail space, or a mentorship program, our work is always about more than the finished product. It’s about the people it serves and the future it helps shape. That’s the legacy we aim for: spaces that serve, stories that last.

Congratulations once again to Garreth Maybury and the project teams on this well-deserved recognition.
