The Story
The whimsical children’s building blocks that make up the exterior design of the hospital were inspired by the input the caregivers and children who submitted drawings of a two storey structure with bright coloured windows, including green, yellow, red and periwinkle blue.
We are very pleased with the level of professionalism and commitment to achieve a successful project and would highly recommend EllisDon for future hospital projects.
Located on the University of Calgary’s West Campus, the Alberta Children’s Hospital enhances the synergies between bedside care, the University of Calgary’s research education facilities, and the expertise and technology of the Foothills Medical Centre.
Every aspect of the 750,000 square foot facility was designed to meet the needs of the hospital’s young patients and their families.
