The Story

This 80 acre solar park is constructed on a sloped and rocky site, which created many unique challenges. There were approximately 48,000 panels installed on this project supported by 1350 racking structures and 5400 helical piles.

This project has a nameplate capacity of 9 MW AC or 14.75 MW DC connecting to Hydro One's distribution grid at 44kV. With that said, a 44kV substation was constructed to facilitate the required protections and controls of the facility and to meet the IESO, and Hydro One requirements for a generation facility.

EllisDon through careful management of the procurement and construction process were able to reach the Commercial Operations Date (COD) milestone for the Client 20 days ahead of schedule. EllisDon was responsible for engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning for this project.
