The Penticton BC Housing Project was a collaborative effort between EllisDon and BC Housing to provide affordable housing for working singles, couples, families, and seniors. The project was to construct a four-storey, stratified multi-purpose building that includes 40 units of residential rentals, space for commercial retail units on the ground level, a playground, and parking. We presented BC Housing with a unique turnkey solution where we entered into a forward-sale fixed-price contract with BC Housing to design, build, and finance the entire project. Before entering into a forward purchase and sale agreement, we purchased the property and developed a proposal to address the need for additional affordable housing in the downtown Penticton core. This contract structure provided a simple and efficient project delivery method that benefitted both parties and is one that we would apply again on future affordable housing developments. Under the contract, we led the design, construction, and financing of the project through completion.
