The Story

The project will house admin, care delivery, pharmacy, physiotherapy, dental and mental health services, all under one roof. The project includes a 2 storey structural steel framed building, constructed upon CFA piled foundations. Externally we have a combination of insulated metal panels and curtain walling. Interior will see drywall and acoustic partition assemblies, interior glazed screens, suspended metal ceilings and feature wood ceilings.

Building heat will be provided from the central steam system that is already on the base. The building is fully sprinklered, and has a Building Management System to intelligently operate and provide Building User control. Externally, we have 2 car parking areas, exterior hard and soft landscaping, and seating areas.

EllisDon are engaging in an extensive BIM and Virtual Construction process with design consultants and subcontractors. This process will assist minimize interferences and the need for on-site coordination. The project will also pursue LEED silver accreditation.

This project is the second of two modified design build projects for the Department of National Defence, that we have designed within the Edmonton office, and have been successful in being awarded the construction phase of the project. This project award is reflective of the strong relationships that we have with both DND and Defence Construction Canada, and we look forward to having a second successful construction project with them in a short space of time (TAPV $34mill started August 2016, finishes April 2018). We are very proud to build for the men and women who serve our country.
