Project Description

  • The Digital Realty TOR1 - Phase II, Shell Upgrades project involved the installation of new structural steel columns, caissons, and helical piles to support the new concrete slab-on-deck.
  • Old roofing membrane was removed and a new roof was installed above the Digital Reality press room.
  • Mechanical, Electrical, and Fire Suppression systems were installed to support the newly renovated space.
  • A new freight elevator was installed that included five stories and came with a machine room and supporting steel structure.
  • A new structural steel elevator roof overrun structure was constructed complete with columns, beams, and steel girt framing to accommodate the steel-insulated siding envelope.
  • To accommodate a new mezzanine within the existing shell of the vacant printing-press space, the column bay spacing was designed to take advantage of the existing press slab foundation system for support of new columns.
  • These columns ran north and south using concrete infill slab constructed over top of the existing pile cap after the erection of the new columns.
  • The new mezzanine floor system was constructed using steel beams and columns to provide floor support made up of 38mm X 1.21mm steel composite deck, complete with 114mm concrete topping reinforced with 15m reinforcing steel at 305mm on center, top each way.
