The Story

The FC Energy Roadmap and Chiller Centre project involves the pre-construction, installation, commissioning, and testing of a new 10.5 MW Geothermal and Heat Pump District Energy system. The central energy centre delivers hot and chilled water to several campus buildings through a 1.5 km underground distribution network. The project also involves the retrofit of several existing buildings to remove traditional chillers and boilers, and the installation of Energy Transfer Stations.

The Geothermal and Heat Pump District Energy system has 600 boreholes, which make a significant contribution to the Client’s ability to reduce its carbon footprint.

The original schedule for this project was November 2020 - October 2021. The change in schedule are due to the Client adding a significant amount of scope and can also be attributed to EllisDon working to obtain Government grant opportunities during the pre-construction of the project.
