The Story

EllisDon was a consortia member selected by Infrastructure Ontario to design and build 20 new service centres across the 400 series highways. Each centre ranges from 9,000 to 22,000 SF. The new centres offer quick service dining, coffee, convenience retail, enhanced truck facilities, fuel services, tourism information, and state-of-the-art washrooms that are fully accessible to families and individuals with disabilities. The sites are also serviced on-site by either wastewater and waste water treatment systems or municipal extensions that EllisDon constructed.

Achievements

LEED Gold and LEED Silver

This project included five phases and required all three of EllisDon’s Ontario offices (London, Toronto and Ottawa) for resources and coordination in order to meet the schedule and logistical demands. EllisDon also worked closely with the local authorities, government agencies, and other key stakeholders to ensure that the work was completed on time.

Thanks to the expert and committed effort put forth by EllisDon, this Project has been deemed an early success, and a testament to innovation, customer focus and flexibility in the face of firm scheduling expectations. We feel that these Service Centres not only reflect the quality standard that has come to be expected of the MTO, but also the work ethic of a truly dedicated and motivated Project Team. We very much look forward to the next opportunity to work with EllisDon.
