The Story
The Place Du Portage III Asset Renewal Project - Phase I encompasses a comprehensive renovation of a nine-tower office complex used by the federal government, originally constructed from 1973 to 1978. Recognized for its heritage significance, Place du Portage stands out for its historical, architectural, and environmental attributes. The renovation's goal is to undertake a complete overhaul of the aging facility, transforming it into a modern, accessible, sustainable, safe, healthy and collaborative workspace.
As the Construction Manager (CM) for Phase I, EllisDon is responsible for orchestrating an extensive scope of work, including:
- Stripping interiors down to the concrete substructure
- Installing new mechanical, electrical, and security systems
- Constructing a new building envelope
- Replacing with a new curtain wall, roofing, metal cladding, and Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete (GFRC) panels
- Conducting a complete interior fit-up
- Redesigning exterior landscaping
With a dedicated team of 60-70 office personnel and up to 30 hourly laborers, EllisDon is committed to excellence in managing these renovations. The project aspires to achieve LEED Gold certification, reflecting a commitment to sustainable construction and design.
