Statoil is a Norwegian energy producing company located in 37 countries around the world. They procured EllisDon to complete an office fit-up for the third floor of the Cormack Building, located in the beautiful downtown area of St. John’s, Newfoundland. The design throughout all of Statoil’s offices have a universal concept of mimicking traditional Scandinavian design with a modern feel. In the Cormack Building, this included warm ash interior and cool aluminum finishes to reflect the soft Scandinavian northern daylight. The third floor space has a spectacular view of the St. John’s waterfront and features three open work areas, eight meeting rooms, five focus rooms, a locker room, a shower room, reception, kitchen, and two extra coffee nooks. Renovations to this floor involved demolition of interior partitions, removal of existing fixtures and finishes, and much needed mold remediation. This also included building a raised floor access system to produce a secured high tech environment. These were done in three phases to accommodate the Client’s specific schedule and timelines. Additionally, the work included a small washroom renovation to Statoil’s Level 2 to match washrooms on Level 3 and updating the building base staircases to accommodate Statoil’s new look.
