The Story

Complete the expansion and modernization of the Strathcona Protective Services Building. The expansion to the existing facility will accommodate a three-storey office addition and full basement, a new main entrance and lobby. Modernization to the interior of the existing building will also be completed while the building remains fully operational 24/7. Building designed and constructed according to the requirements of Strathcona County's Municipal Sustainable Building Protocols.

Project involves construction of new office space for existing RCMP detachment, as well as renovation of existing facilities throughout. Phase 1 consists of new construction of a three-storey tower and basement, built adjoining the existing facility. Three further phases of interior renovation follow.

Working within a live RCMP building, security requirements are high and co-ordination of works will be crucial to ensure that the existing facilities are not compromised throughout the works.

Key challenge will be ensuring that no services are compromised throughout the works, and ensuring that the RCMP detachment operates as if no construction works are taking place.
