The Story
This project consisted of three main contracts: a $67 Million, 500,000 square foot Paint and Plastics Building, a $24 Million Utilities Building, and a $10 Million expansion to the Utilities Building. These projects were built within the aggressive12 month schedule.
The project team mobilized as soon as the contract was awarded. Delivery and erection of the pre-purchased steel began three days later. A series of deadlines drove this project and EllisDon raced to meet the critical path timing, while still accommodating numerous changes and additions to the scope of work.
Challenges & Solutions
This project involved intensive ongoing scheduling, as numerous schedule recovery plans were implemented to accommodate changes and problems. For example, the project team worked closely with the steel fabricator to catch up on a significant schedule slippage on the pre-tendered steel package. The recovery plan included sourcing available fabrication capacity and subcontracting fabrication work for these facilities.
