The Story

The Wildwood Affordable Housing project consisted of the construction of three new, 16-unit affordable housing multi-storey residential buildings (stacked town homes) in the community of Wildwood, Calgary. All buildings were slab on grade construction, with surface parking lots. The building structures were three-storey stick (wood) frame construction, with cement board siding and Styrene Butadiene Styrene (“SBS”) roofing.

Construction began in April 2017, and was completed by August 2018. The buildings were constructed to achieve Build Green Silver Status, and feature an energy efficient HVAC system, hybrid exterior wall system that included conventional fiberglass insulation in the wall cavities, and rigid insulation on the outer surface to prevent thermal bridging, energy efficient windows and cement board siding. The affordable housing initiative by The City of Calgary focused on making affordable housing readily available for low-income families.
