The Story

Based on surveys from across the student population, the design for the York University New Student Centre places an emphasis on living space and transparency. With meeting rooms, group study areas, recreational spaces, club offices, administrative support offices, commercial spaces and multi-faith prayer rooms, the Student Centre will be a hub of student life on campus. It also has a multi-faith prayer space, space for over 135 student clubs, and an event hosting area that can hold up to 600 people.

With over 90% of the building lit by natural lighting and several green spaces on the roof, the project will be seeking a LEED Silver Certification. The New Student Centre is set to open in the spring of 2018.
