EllisDon Donates $60,000 to the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund

Back in September, EllisDon in partnership with Build-a-Dream hosted a virtual celebration, “Stir it Up - Celebrating with Impact,” where we heard firsthand how diversity and inclusion have shaped the lives of people and how we can all continue the momentum to create a kinder, more inclusive world.

We are proud to present a donation of $60,000 to the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund from all the proceeds of the event. The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund aims to build cultural understanding and create a path toward reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.

“We are so grateful for EllisDon’s commitment to equity and inclusion,” said Sarah Midanik, President & CEO, the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund. “Through generous contributions like these, we are able to continue delivering programs, campaigns, and events that bring Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples together to foster meaningful relationships and move reconciliation forward.”

Thank you to everyone who participated in our Stir it Up event to celebrate how being unique makes our teams better and stronger, and to also raise money for a great cause.

“It is our privilege to work with the Downie Wenjack Foundation to raise awareness and understanding between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous people in the hope that, one day, true reconciliation can occur. #DoSomething,” says Jody Becker, Chief Strategy Officer, Executive Vice President Infrastructure Services & Technology at EllisDon.
