At EllisDon, we pride ourselves on actively engaging and taking part in initiatives that leave lasting impacts. One national sponsorship that we’re particularly proud of is Jill of All Trades. Jill of All Trades is an organization that focuses on providing hands-on experiences to young women in grades 9 through 12 to introduce them to career opportunities in the trades. Through various day-long events held across the country, young women are exposed to what trades are, what is involved in different trades, and how to get started in a trade.

“The credit for our involvement goes to the dedication of the volunteers on Together – EllisDon’s employee-leadership group, focused on gender equity. We started by going to individual events, until we came on board as a national sponsor in 2024 and never looked back,” said Isabel Celis, Design Manager, Senior Building Group Operations, EllisDon. “Inclusive diversity is a key value we support at EllisDon, and this partnership is a unique opportunity to demonstrate to young women that there is a space for them here – in construction, and with EllisDon.”

What really stands out about Jill of All Trades is the tactical approach. Jill of All Trades combines exposure to the trades through their day of events, industry mentorship and

keynote speakers, with experiential learning so young women get real world experience. “What we noticed was most of the students that attended had been exposed to the trades because someone in their family is a tradesperson,” said Mario Galdones, Quality Lead, EllisDon. “It’s important to us to be involved in organizations and events that encourage that interest and pursuit of the amazing careers that the skilled trades have to offer.”

EllisDon is excited to maintain our partnership with Jill of All Trades, as we aim to support more women and girls in building successful careers within the construction industry.
