EllisDon Joins Buy Clean Energy Event to Discuss Sustainable Procurement in Canada

EllisDon's Vice President of Climate and Sustainability, Jolene McLaughlin, recently joined Honourable Minister Anita Anand and members of the Buy Clean Alliance for a fireside chat on sustainable procurement at the Buy Clean Energy event.

The event was aimed at bringing together leaders from across the building and construction value chain to discuss key barriers and solutions to procuring low carbon materials in infrastructure across Canada.

Working with Clean Energy Canada, the Buy Clean Industry Alliance, and the Future Infrastructure Group last fall, EllisDon played a significant role in organizing the event. This week, the company released a report summarizing the findings of that effort. Minister Anand shared insights into how the federal government is working on the Greening Government Strategy, including the procurement of low carbon materials in federal infrastructure projects.

"The use of low carbon materials in our infrastructure is critical to decarbonization goals for Canada and the rest of the world. This report and the workshop it's based on are the starting point for critical discussions around a broad suite of policies that will support emissions reductions in both the industrial and construction sectors," says Jolene McLaughlin, Vice President of Climate and Sustainability.

EllisDon is committed to working towards a sustainable future for Canada and the world by leveraging innovative solutions and collaborating with industry leaders. The company will continue to lead the conversation on sustainable procurement and push for policies that support emissions reductions in the construction industry.
