EllisDon Named Pre-Construction Manager for the Dani Reiss Modern and Contemporary Gallery
EllisDon has been selected to deliver the Dani Reiss Modern and Contemporary Gallery at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
This expansion project will increase the museum’s gallery space by 40,000 square feet, with at least thirteen new galleries across five floors that will display the works of today’s great modern and contemporary artists. Set to be located between the existing AGO and Ontario College of Art and Design University, the expansion will also seamlessly connect to a number of the AGO’s existing galleries from four locations, increasing visitor circulation.
"We are honoured to have been selected to deliver the Dani Reiss Modern and Contemporary Gallery at the Art Gallery of Ontario," said Andrew Anderson, Senior Vice President, EllisDon. "Our previous experience as the Construction Manager for the Transformation AGO Project gives us the knowledge and expertise to successfully bring this new space to life, further enhancing the AGO's reputation as a world-class cultural institution. We are excited to be back on-site and are looking forward to getting to work."
The Dani Reiss Modern and Contemporary Gallery is being built to the highest performance standards and is designed to operate without burning fossil fuel. The all-electric mechanical plant will use no operational carbon and create no emissions, while seeking CAGBC Zero Carbon Building certification — making it one of a very small number of museum spaces to accomplish this.
Previously, EllisDon served as the Construction Manager for the Art Gallery of Ontario —Transformation AGO project which was completed in 2008.
