EllisDon has won three of the Vancouver Regional Construction Association’s (VRCA) 2020 & 2021 Silver Excellence Awards. Due to the COVID-19 related postponement of the 2020 event, this year’s awards combined two years.

For 2020, EllisDon was awarded the top prize in the General Contractors – Up to $20 Million category for the BC Housing Penticton project as well as in the General Contractors – Over $50 Million category for the Penticton Regional Hospital Phase I.Both projects are located in Penticton, B.C. and help advance the quality of life of the community. The BC Housing Penticton project is a four-storey multi-purpose building that offers 40 units of affordable residential rentals as well as commercial or retail units on the ground level. Penticton Regional Hospital Phase I involved the construction of a seven-storey Patient Care Tower that includes 84 medical and surgical inpatient beds in single patient rooms, a new medical device reprocessing department, a new ambulatory care centre featuring outpatient services as well as satellite medical imaging and a laboratory for specimen collections.For 2021, EllisDon was named the Silver Award winner in the General Contractors– $20 Million to $50 Million category for the Clayton Community Centre.Located in Surrey, B.C., the Clayton Community Centre is the first of its kind to achieve Passive House in North America, and Canada’s largest Passive House facility to date. Clayton Community Centre sets a new standard for community centres in the region, offering a library, gymnasium, fitness and weight rooms, preschool and daycare facilities, a child-minding space, youth-gathering space, staff spaces and supporting infrastructure.These project-specific awards recognize the VRCA’s finest member companies and feature industrial, commercial, institutional, multi-family residential, and special projects. Criteria for the awards included financial benchmarks, use of innovative techniques, challenges and resolutions, safety records, and/or exceptional project management.
