EllisDon's Executive Chair, Geoff Smith, has been appointed Chancellor of George Brown College for a three-year term. This marks a new chapter in Smith’s distinguished career—one defined by innovation and a commitment to advancing EllisDon as leading construction services and technology company. Smith’s influence played a substantial role in EllisDon’s current reputation as an innovative leader in the construction industry.
“It is an honour to be appointed Chancellor of George Brown College,” said Geoff Smith, Executive Chair of the Board, EllisDon. “I am looking forward to bringing the knowledge and insights I’ve gained from forty-three years working with incredible colleagues and partners at EllisDon and helping further support the future generations and their vast career aspirations.”
“This appointment is a testament to Geoff’s unwavering dedication, visionary leadership, and profound commitment to supporting the next generation,” said Kieran Hawe, President and CEO, EllisDon. “He brings a plethora of knowledge, experience, and leadership to the Chancellorship and will undoubtably leave a lasting mark on George Brown College, its faculty, and its students.”
Sitting as the chair of numerous organizations including the Ontario Liberal Fund, the Ontario Global 100, and the Unity for Autism Golf Event, Geoff also sits on: the Board of the CD Howe Institute; the Board of Halton Health Services; the McMichael Art Gallery; and the ILEO Leadership Table. In post-secondary education, Geoff served as a Curriculum Advisor to Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) and was awarded an honourary degree for his work with George Brown College in 2023. He was honoured with the Toronto Region Board of Trade’s Toronto Region Builder Award earlier this year.
We congratulate Geoff Smith on his appointment and look forward to the leadership and vision he will bring to George Brown College.
