Showcasing Sam’s Centre in honour of Stampede

We're excited to showcase the Sam Centre in Calgary, Alberta, in honour of the Calgary Stampede!

This unique facility gives visitors year-round access to the history of the stampede and its original creators. We were proud to be a part of this vibrant project, with EllisDon's Mass Timber group in Toronto, Quality Assurance/Quality Control team in Calgary, and our Scheduling team to bringing it to life.

One of the standout features of the Sam Centre is its fluted clay tile cladding, which mimics a barn board look. Additionally, a class B museum was included to preserve precious artifacts from deteriorating, and the building embodies the true Stampede feel. It's the small details that truly bring this project to life, such as the Clydesdale horseshoes used as door handles in the washroom stalls, and the oversized 3.5-meter-tall doors throughout the building, including frameless glass doors at the entrance to the main exhibit.

Anthony Mallat, Superintendent of the Sam Centre site, sums up the project perfectly: "It was a lot of fun being a part of this project and I would do it all over again."We're proud to have been a part of such a unique and exciting project, and we look forward to showcasing more of our work in the future!
