4th Annual TimberFever Design-Build Competition Lays Foundation for Young Builders

EllisDon proudly sponsored TimberFever, a four-day design-build competition which recently took place at Ryerson University from Sept. 20-23. The event brings together architecture and civil engineering students from 16 universities across Ontario to collaborate and build life-size wood structures. The objective is to encourage students to collaborate on a project while developing design, construction, and communication skills that they can apply in their future careers.Mark Gaglione, Building and Materials Science Specialist at EllisDon and Vincent Davenport, EllisDon Construction Sciences, were among the volunteer mentors that led the student design teams throughout the competition."Collaboration with other disciplines is one of the keys to success in our industry, so we are happy to support an event that not only promotes the use of wood, but brings engineering and architecture students together to solve problems in a hands-on environment," says Gaglione.

Using the tools and materials provided, the design teams were challenged to build unique wooden structures that would be judged based on concept, design development, construction and presentation. To learn more about event, visit www.timberfever.com
