We are proud to spotlight our EllisDon Community Builders X Blue Door initiative, a partnership working towards providing affordable housing for the most vulnerable in our communities.

Community Builders is the division of EllisDon Capital that delivers Advisory and Development Management services to affordable housing providers. We are proud to be the development manager for Kevin’s Place, Blue Door's 14-unit emergency and affordable housing program in Newmarket. In addition to housing, Kevin’s Place offers occupants a range of support services. Community Builders’ work covers planning, design, construction procurement, financing, and commercial/legal considerations.

Blue Door engaged us early in the project (2022) to complete a feasibility assessment and prepare a Preliminary Development Report. In 2023, we took on the role of development manager to guide the project through rezoning, site plan, design, financing, and construction. Construction is scheduled to begin in late-2024. 

Community Builders and Blue Door share a bold ambition to maximize the potential of every affordable housing development. With this initiative, Blue Door and Community Builders are addressing the urgent need to provide accommodation and strengthen community services for people experiencing homelessness in Newmarket and York Region.
