Today, we celebrate National Skilled Trades Day! This day is dedicated to recognizing the importance of skilled trades in the construction industry and the contribution they make to our society. Skilled trades employees are the backbone of the construction industry, and without them, we wouldn't have the infrastructure and buildings we rely on every day.

At EllisDon, we're proud to be a part of the skilled trades community and recognize the significant role skilled trade workers play in our success. We're committed to providing opportunities for the next generation of skilled trade leaders to explore and pursue careers in the construction industry. One way we do this is through our partnership with the York Region District School Board and the S.T.E.A.R Program (Skilled Trades Exploration and Readiness Program).

The S.T.E.A.R. Program is designed to give high school students career exploration in the skilled trades and construction industry. Through the program, students rotate through various trades every two weeks and gain hands-on experience from professionals.

The purpose of the program is to provide students with a first-hand experience of different roles required on-site, allowing them to select what they enjoy for a future career in construction. By participating in this program, students also earn high school credits for the semester.

At EllisDon, we recognize the importance of investing in the next generation of skilled trade workers. By opening doors at a young age and providing opportunities for exploration, we hope to inspire the next generation to pursue a career in the construction industry.
