EllisDon Named to Canadian Occupational Safety’s 2023 5-Star Safety Culture List

Mississauga, ON, March 2, 2023 - EllisDon has been named to the Canadian Occupational Safety’s (COS) 2023 5-Star Safety Culture list for its strong and vigilant commitment to safety. Companies included on the list are recognized for their development of diverse sets of tools and workplace policies that ensure the well-being of employees.

“Amongst everything else we do at this company, our priority is to make sure everyone goes home safe at night,” said Steve Chaplin, Vice President, Health, Safety and Environment, EllisDon. “Our health, safety, and environment program is best in class and we are always evolving our practices that continue to strengthen our culture of safety. Our commitment to safety ensures that our positive impact continues on long after we have left the construction site. It is an honour to have our efforts recognized by the COS 5-Star Safety Culture Special Report.”

The COS 5-Star Safety Cultures entry process comprised two steps: an employer submission followed by an employee survey. For the submission, organizations had to complete an in-depth form asking for details of the safety program initiated over the last year. Companies that successfully completed the submission phase were then sent a link to an online employee survey to be circulated internally.

Organizations had to meet a minimum number of responses to be eligible for the 5-Star Safety Cultures award, based on company size. The survey asked employees to rate their company across a range of metrics that constitute drivers of employee satisfaction. Companies that achieved an overall satisfaction rating of at least 75 percent were recognized as 5-star awardees.
